As an early team member and Director of Creative Operations, I built the first two marketing websites and worked across brand, marketing, and product.

Project story

I joined tea.xyz among its first 10 employees. The company was building a platform to reward open-source software contributors, and a small team had plenty to get done before it could add layers of specialization.

Taking responsibility for the marketing sites

I independently designed, developed, and deployed the first two marketing websites with Hugo. That gave me responsibility for both the visual direction and the implementation, while the product engineers could concentrate on the core product.

It was also where my earlier HTML and CSS experience became a much more substantial development practice. The work included making a distinctive visual system function as a responsive website, with all the practical adjustments that involves.

Working across the company

I collaborated with product and engineering on the tea GUI, a visual package-management application. I also developed Stable Diffusion workflows for imagery associated with user-submitted software packages and led creative operations across marketing work.

During my tenure, the platform acquired 1 million users in 71 days. That was a company-wide growth outcome, supported by the work of many people. My contribution was the creative and marketing infrastructure, along with the design and development work described here.
